SHIP RECYCLING POLICY

 
The Company recognizes our responsibility to contribute to safe and environmentally responsible ship recycling.
 
The Hong Kong Convention is aimed at ensuring that ships, when being recycled after reaching the end of their operational lives, do not pose any unnecessary risk to human health and safety or to the environment.
 
The Company will through a thorough investigation and screening process endeavour to ensure that re-cycling is conducted in compliance with the Hong Kong Convention as well as the EU Waste Shipment Regulation, the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal and the OECD Decision, as applicable.
 
Prior to any agreement on recycling either directly or via a cash buyer [customer] will ensure that the nominated yard warrants to comply with the following obligations as applicable:
 
• Yard must present a valid Statement of Compliance certifying that yard is complying with Hong Kong Convention, the statement to be issued by a classification society member of IACS (International Association of Classification Societies);
 
• Yard must present an Inventory Hazardous Material (IHM) Certificate issued by Class (IACS);
 
• Yard must issue a Ship Recycling Plan;
 
• Yard must issue a Green Recycling certificate or similar statement confirming that the recycling has been carried out in accordance with Ship Recycling Plan.
 
The Company is committed to ensure that recycling of vessels belonging to the company is always done in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
